Cubs World Series Champ Ben Zobrist managed 116 steals in his career, but his name is caught up in a different kind of theft currently.
The manufacturer of the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series ring has filed a lawsuit against an auction house and collector over a replica ring with Ben Zobrist's name that the lawsuit says was stolen.
The Chicago Tribune reports the manufacturing company Jostens claim to duplicate ring is worth more than $75,000. And in the lawsuit, Jostens claims Heritage Auctions has not returned the stolen sample ring that was slated to be auctioned off last year, and its collected will not release his claim to the title to the stolen sample.
Now made news last June that Zobrist was going to be selling his ring. Yet Zobrist denied he had sold his ring, even saying the Tribune a time-stamped photo of him wearing said ring to prove it was still in his possession.
