Kevin Love is set to sign with the Miami Heat for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, according to a Sunday morning report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Love, 34, was announced to have finalized a buyout from the Cavaliers on Saturday after spending the previous nine seasons in Cleveland. A mainstay for a number of Cavs teams (including their Finals-winning roster in 2016), Love saw his minutes reduced over the past season and a half, and was taken out of the Cavs' regular rotation in early February.
Love reportedly drew interest from a number of teams following the first reports on Wednesday of his buyout from the Cavs. In 41 games played this season, Love, who has been nursing a thumb injury over the last few weeks, has averaged career-lows of 8.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest, as well as 1.9 assists over an average of 20 minutes per game.
The Heat (32-27) currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings - half a game behind the New York Knicks for the sixth and final spot ahead of the East play-in tournament, and five games behind the fourth-place Cavs (38-23).
Cleveland and Miami are set to play on Mar. 8 at FTX Arena in South Beach.
