Report: Tom Brady expects 2021 season with Bucs 'to be even better'

40 touchdowns at age 43 is pretty hard to improve upon. But if you know anything about Tom Brady's mindset and competitiveness, you won't be surprised to hear that he's expecting even better results in 2021 at age 44.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added more fuel to the fire regarding the fact that Brady will continue his NFL journey for a 22nd year.

"My understanding is he does in fact plan to play for the 2021 season," Rapaport said on NFL Gameday. "[He] got a two-year contract, plans to honor it. He is loving his time in Tampa Bay, actually thinks it will be better next year with the Bucs."

It's not particularly surprising that Brady is going to honor his contract and play for another season. After all, with the success that he had and the fact that he remained in good health throughout the year, the Bucs won't be able to do much better at quarterback. Hopefully, by the 2021 season, the ticket revenue that will come as a result of Brady and company will actually come into play as well.

The part that may be surprising — but again, I reiterate, shouldn't be all that shocking — is that he thinks his 2021 season will be even better. It's not like his 2020 campaign was perfect. It certainly had its ups and downs, including some stretches where the offense looked completely stagnant, his deep balls were not anywhere near where they needed to be and the comments about Brady from head coach Bruce Arians were highly scrutinized.

Still, an 11-5 record and the third-highest scoring offense in football isn't, uh, all too bad. It'll be interesting to see who stays and who goes — Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Godwin and others are upcoming free agents — but should the core remain intact, we could be in for a very similar display for 2021.

Or, as Brady expects, it could be even better.
