It seems more likely than not that changes are coming for the Chicago Bears, and on Sunday Ohio State’s Ryan Day was linked as a potential coaching candidate.

According to Audacy NFL insider Jason La Canfora, former Bears defensive end and renown coaching agent Trace Armstrong discussed a top management position with the franchise in which the GM would report to him and is a apparently a proponent of the Ohio State head coach.

However, shortly after La Canfora’s report came out, Armstrong issued a denial on Twitter that he has had any sort of conversation about any position with the Bears.

Armstrong also happens to be the agent for Bears current head coach Matt Nagy, although it seems unlikely that anything could save Nagy’s job at this point short of a miracle playoff run.

Day, 42, has built an impressive resume as head coach of Ohio State and has shown interest in jumping to the NFL in recent years, per La Canfora.

Day has previously worked in the NFL as a quarterbacks coach with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers from 2015-16 before replacing Urban Meyer at Ohio State.

While college coaches have historically struggled to make the transition to the NFL, Day has close ties to Bears rookie Justin Fields, who played for him at Ohio State and could benefit from having his former college coach at the helm.

La Canfora’s report also mentioned Las Vegas Raiders director of pro personnel Dwayne Joseph as another potential coaching candidate for the Bears, too.
