Some possible good news surrounding T.J. Watt’s injury as we wait for official word.

CBS sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones reports that “There’s some optimism today in Pittsburgh,” saying Watt did not suffer a full pectoral tear during Sunday’s win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jones adds the hope is Watt, “will be able to return after sitting a month or so, per league sources, still awaiting word from the team.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport speculated earlier on Monday that Watt could miss the entire season.

The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly didn’t seem too optimistic talking on the “Up & Adams Show.”

“It didn’t’ look good,” said Kaboly, who was right near the locker room as Watt walked in toward the end of the game after the injury.

Kaboly says the best case scenario is that is it a partial pec tear and not a full tear.

“Maybe he can come back at the end of the year . . . either way he’s going to be out a long, long, long period of time and that’s not good for the Steelers defense.”

But hopefully this latest report, Watt will only miss a month or so.

Some other good news to think about. In 2019 Watt’s Brother J.J. had a serious pec tear in Week Eight, but was able to return for the playoffs, month ahead of normal rehab.
