By now, you've probably seen or heard Frank Caliendo's impression of stoic Patriots coach Bill Belichick. Caliendo's cadence, mimicking Belichick's terse, monotone delivery, is spot-on, but Joe Bucci's impersonation of him might be even more convincing. We're talking about a man who lives and breathes the "Patriots' Way."
Winter Storm Gail dropped over a foot of snow on New England earlier this week, putting pressure on local highway crews to keep roads safe. At the storm's height Wednesday afternoon, Brandon Truitt of Providence-based WPRI 12 News found Bucci working in the trenches, guiding the Rhode Island Department of Transportation's (RIDOT) plowing and sanding efforts amid the season's first blizzard. Bucci, a highway operations engineer, knew the snow would pose challenges, but that's football, right?
"We adjust. It's no different than what the Pats have to do on Sundays," said Bucci who, one would have to assume, displays a "Do Your Job" banner prominently in his home, perhaps in the same room he keeps his prized collection of cut-off hoodies. "We play with the team that we got and that's our approach to things. We just adapt and we overcome."
Spoken like a true New Englander. Appreciative of Bucci's shout-out, the Patriots Twitter account acknowledged his remarks with a GIF of Belichick clapping.
Hopefully the storm is onto Cincinnati.
