The New Orleans Saints got a rare bit of positive injury news on Sunday morning, with WR Chris Olave now expected to play.

The star WR was a full participant at practice on Friday for the Saints but still had to be cleared by the independent neurologist before he could get on the field. That reportedly has happened, first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

If he can go that will be a major boost to a Saints WR room that is already without Michael Thomas (knee) and Rashid Shaheed (quad).

Olave has been the Saints leading receiver this season with 63 catches for 771 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was on pace for a career game in Week 12 with 7 catches for 114 yards.

The Saints will be looking for other depth receivers to step up behind Olave as well, with Marquez Callaway elevated from the practice squad, while rookie A.T. Perry, veteran Keith Kirkwood and the versatile Lynn Bowden Jr. all expected to have a role.

The Saints (5-6) host the Lions (8-3) in the Caesars Superdome at noon.
