Tiger Woods made the wrong kind of splash at the Masters this year.

The 2019 Masters champion was unable to recapture the magic that gave him an improbable victory a year ago, and on Sunday things really went south for the golfing legend.

The 44-year-old was struggling most of the day, shooting two-over par as he approached the 12th hole – a par 3. What happened next was an unmitigated disaster.

Woods’ tee shot failed to clear the water, leading to a drop for his second shot. Woods proceeded to use the wedge only to hit his drop shot into the water as well.

Woods cleared the water on his next drop, but the ball landed in the back bunker. Already now two-over on the hole, Woods misfired in the bunker only to hit the ball right back into the water for a third time.

He ultimately finished with a 10 on the par-3 hole, ruining what had begun as an encouraging weekend for the soon-to-be 45-year-old golfer.

Woods opened Thursday with his first bogey-free round at Augusta since 2008 – a sign that he could very well contend this weekend.

While Woods was unable to replicate his opening round effort the rest of the weekend, he still played one-under on Friday and was even on Saturday.

Yet, Sunday’s 12th hole was just another reminder that even a legend like Woods is human.
