Rocky River, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Baker Mayfield remains in limbo.
While the team continues their efforts to trade Mayfield, it remains unclear if he will be required to attend the Brows mandatory minicamp next week.
“I’m not going to get into that,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday afternoon at the Cleveland Browns Foundation’s annual charity golf outing held at Westwood Country Club.
The Browns have been pretty quiet about their plans for Mayfield since acquiring Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans and giving the embattled quarterback a five-year $230 million fully guaranteed contract.
“I think with all of that, this whole offseason, we've been pretty consistent that we'll take it day-by-day, so if there's something to update we will,” Stefanski said.
Stefanski plans to take his team on the road for two of the three minicamp practices next week – at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton next Wednesday and then FirstEnergy Stadium Thursday.
“I think its so vitally important that we understand what’s come before us – the players, the coaches, the great teams that have come before us,” Stefanski said. “We’re so fortunate to have the Pro Football Hall of Fame right down the road so we’re going to take advantage of that.”
The Browns practiced Monday morning before heading over to Westwood Country Club for the outing to kick off the final week of OTA practices, which are voluntary.
“We’ve had really good attendance with guys coming in and getting some work done,” Stefanski said.
