Michigan football just got a big-time boost from West Bloomfield.

2021 four-star running back Donovan Edwards committed to Michigan on Wednesday, making his announcement on ESPN.

The Wolverines landed Edwards over a group of finalists that included Georgia, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. He also held offers from the likes of Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

Edwards is ranked No. 4 among running backs and No. 44 overall in his class, according to 247 Sports. He’s Michigan's highest-rated running back recruit since Carlos Brown in 2006.

Edwards' commitment bumped Michigan's 2021 class from No. 14 in the nation to No. 10, according to 247 Sports. He slides in as the Wolverines' No. 2 recruit, behind five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
