The top recruit in the state of Michigan and one of the top cornerbacks in the country in the class of 2022 has committed to the Wolverines.
Will Johnson of Grosse Pointe South announced his decision via Twitter on Sunday. The five-star corner is ranked No. 1 at his position and No. 11 overall in the nation by the 247 Sports Composite.
It's the first time that Michigan has landed the top in-state recruit since Aidan Hutchinson in 2018. Johnson also had an offer from Alabama, among others.
"For this next chapter in my life, I will be continuing my academic and athletic carer at the University of Michigan -- Go Blue," Johnson said in a video posted to Twitter.
Johnson's commitment means that, right now, the top two recruits in 2022 for Michigan are defensive backs -- a position of need for the Wolverines. Four-star safety Taylor Grooves is the other.
