After taking care of business against Iowa Saturday night in the Big Ten Championship, the Michigan Wolverines are headed back to the College Football Playoff.
There was never any doubt about that. There was also never much doubt they’d be the No. 1 seed.
But the big question heading into Sunday’s CFP reveal was who they’d be playing. And now we know — The Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama knocked off previous No. 1-ranked Georgia in the SEC title game on Saturday, doing enough in the committee’s eyes to pip Florida State, who finished just outside the top four, despite beating Louisville in the ACC Championship to finish the regular season 13-0.
Michigan will play Alabama on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl, their first trip to Pasadena since 2006.
