He wasn't in Florida as of Thursday morning, but Michigan's star defensive back Daxton Hill could still play in Friday night's Orange Bowl against Georgia.
After rumors began swirling this week that Hill hadn't made the trip with the Wolverines to Miami, Jim Harbaugh confirmed Thursday that Hill "is not currently in Florida" and "his status is going to be questionable" for the game.
"He’s working through something right now and we’ll know more today whether he’ll be able to play," Harbaugh said.

Michigan's starting nickel and a potential first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Hill is tied for the team in lead in interceptions and passes defended. He also ranks second in tackles and fourth in tackles for loss. He's played the most snaps of any player on Michigan's defense.
It's not yet clear why Hill isn't with the team, but Harbaugh noted "he could be here today." Also a first-team All-Big Ten selection, Hill's absence could be related to COVID exposure after his older brother Justice Hill, a running back for the Ravens, was reportedly placed on COVID-19 reserve on Christmas Day.
If Hill isn't available Friday in the national semifinal, freshman defensive back Rod Moore will likely see a bigger role. He earned more playing time as the year went on, culminating with a season-high nine tackles in Michigan's win over Ohio State.
