Report: Vic Fangio expected to become Eagles' new defensive coordinator after parting ways with Dolphins

Vic Fangio is now the Philadelphia Eagles' "top target" for defensive coordinator, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, as Fangio and the Miami Dolphins have mutually parted ways.

The Eagles are "internally currently expecting" Fangio to be their next defensive coordinator, according to Josina Anderson.

"We've got a lot of targets that we're working through," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday when asked about the report, which broke during the press conference.

Miami is reportedly allowing Fangio to go to Philadelphia and be closer to his family, as he is from Dunmore, PA and spent time as an Eagles consultant in 2022.

Fangio, 65, has spent time in the NFL as a defensive coach since 1986 as the New Orleans Saints' linebackers coach. He has worked for 10 NFL teams.

The Eagles' defense regressed in 2023 after a 2022 season where they recorded 70 sacks, just two shy of the NFL record.

The Eagles made a defensive play calling shift from coordinator Sean Desai to assistant Matt Patricia late in the season. Both have been relieved of their duties.
