the greg hill show: Wiggy sees Bill and Kraft together for at least 1 more year
Let the coaching carousel begin.
The Tennessee Titans finished their 2023-24 season on a high note with a 28-20 win over the Jaguars on Sunday, but that doesn't mean all is well in Nashville.
According to a report from former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi last week on his GM Shuffle podcast, there are some "real issues" inside the building and head coach Mike Vrabel is "not happy with the setup that he has." Additionally, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this past weekend that Vrabel would "be open to" the idea of moving to another team.
We now may know what team that is.
According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, Vrabel is interested in the idea of becoming the Patriots' next head coach, should they move on from Bill Belichick.
To throw a bit of a wrench into the idea, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported back in November that the Titans franchise "strongly and collectively believes it has the right coach for long-term success in Mike Vrabel," and the 48-year-old remains under contract for one more season. Long story short, New England and team owner Robert Kraft would have to facilitate a trade for their former linebacker if he's not relieved of his duties.
Vrabel clearly has an affinity for the Patriots, as was seen during his induction weekend into the team's Hall of Fame back in October. He sat in Kraft's owner's suite throughout the team's contest versus the Bills, and gave quite the speech during halftime to the Gillette Stadium crowd:
"I don’t want you to take this organization for granted," he said to the fans in attendance. "I’ve been a lot of places, this is a special place with great leadership, great fans, great direction, and great coaching. Enjoy it, it’s not like this everywhere."
Perhaps there's a chance he'll be back in New England in the near future.
