DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - There were several questions that needed to be answered entering Cowboys training camp this summer. One of them being who would handle return duties.

The team attempted to answer that question in the middle of camp by bringing in USFL receiver KaVontae Turpin to take a crack at the position.

You can now safely cross that question off the list.

In the first quarter of the Cowboys preseason matchup against the Chargers, Turpin dashed away from Los Angeles' special teams unit and returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.

But, he was just getting started...

With just over a minute remaining in the first half, the Chargers elected to punt it away to Turpin, and he made them pay with an 86-yard return for a touchdown.

Turpin, a former TCU Horned Frog, played for the New Jersey Generals this summer. He was named USFL MVP after leading the league in receiving (540 yards). He also returned a punt for a touchdown.

Turpin went undrafted in 2019, likely due in part to reported off-the-field issues.
