(670 The Score) White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf believes the mysterious bullet at the center of the shooting incident inside Guaranteed Rate Field during his club’s game last Friday traveled into the left-field bleachers from outside the ballpark.

Reinsdorf commented on the incident with a small group of reporters Thursday afternoon before he addressed the team’s promotion of assistant general manager Chris Getz to senior vice president/general manager. Reinsdorf’s belief stems largely from the White Sox’s own internal review of video and evidence, and he spoke to Chicago Interim Police Superintendent Fred Waller on Wednesday, he said.

“I spoke to Superintendent (Fred) Waller last night, and he authorized me to say regardless of what anybody has said up until now, they have not ruled out that the shots came from outside the ballpark,” Reinsdorf said.

“They’re still investigating. I don’t want to get into specific facts while they’re investigating, but we’ve really done a deep dive into this, and I don’t see any way in the world that the shots could’ve come from inside the ballpark. But let’s let the police continue with their investigation.

“At this point, all the superintendent is prepared to say is they’ve not ruled out that they’ve came from outside the ballpark.”

Early on in the investigation, the theory that the bullet was fired from outside the ballpark gained momentum, but Waller on Monday shared the belief that the bullet was likely fired from inside the ballpark. An attorney for a woman who was injured denied speculation that she brought a gun into the ballpark.
