Yankees Twitter lights up Gerrit Cole after he surrenders three runs without an out

Whatever the issue is, Gerrit Cole’s 2022 season debut looked a lot like his 2021 finale: the Red Sox saw four straight runners reach and three runs come across before Cole recorded an out, going four-pitch walk, home run, single, RBI double before an Alex Verdugo comebacker.

And, as you might expect, the Bronx cheers came out for that one, and social media was lighting up the Yankees’ $324 million man:

The Yankees gave Cole two back pretty quickly on Anthony Rizzo’s two-run dinger, but definitely a conspicuous start for the Bombers’ ace.
