BISHOP'S KNIGHTS
2018 RECORD: (5-5)
JV RECORD: Not Reported
2018 NOTABLE WINS: Orange Glen, Mater Dei, Classical Academy
2018 NOTABLE LOSSES: Monte Vista, Vista, Grossmont
STARTING RATING: -2.9
PLAYERS TO WATCH: 4-star recruit Tyler Buchner (QB), Clarence Freeman (WR), Chase Ladrido (S), Charlie Mossy (DE-LB), Clay Petry (WR), Amman Banks (RB), Grif Dooley (S), John Flaming (DB), Aza Leota (LT).
REPORT: The Knights are expected to have a bounce back season after going 5-5 last year, large in part to losing their star QB Tyler Buchner in their first game a season ago. With the likes of Notre Dame looking at Buchner it is easy to see why he is one of the best D1 prospects if not the best prospect in San Diego preps this season and he will be a main reason the Knights will have a big season. Their shcedule plays favorably early in the season as they start with La Jolla, at University City, Mater Dei, at Rosamond and Francis Parker to round up their non-league. For us the Knights only losses this season may come to Santa Fe Christian and Orange Glen in league play but the ceiling is very high for Bishop's in 2019.
EXPECTED WIN/LOSS AND LEAGUE FINISH: (8-2), 3rd in Coastal

CLASSICAL ACADEMY CAIMANS
2018 RECORD: (7-5)
JV RECORD: Not Reported
2018 NOTABLE WINS: La Jolla Country Day, Montgomery, Maranatha Christian
2018 NOTABLE LOSSES: Orange Glen, Bishop's, Santa Fe Christian
STARTING RATING: -19.4
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Jacob Ibanez (OL), James Ibanez (OL), James Duncan (QB), Brendan Archibeck (WR), Mason Pillsbury (ILB), Anthony Costello (ILB), Jacob Albrecht (OL), Ben Pancarik (DL), Caleb Markwald (C), Preston Piekarski (LB).
REPORT:  With their head coach of 5 years, Jon Goodman, departing for Escondido Charter, it will be up to new Head Coach Tim Sherlock to rebuild the Caimans. Last year's squad was very senior laden but this years team should not have much of a fallback year, especially with their non-league opponents. Classical Academy opens the season with a trip down to the South Bay to take on Mar Vista. They then finish up their non-league schedule with a trip to Coronado, home for La Jolla Country Day, at O'Farrell Charter, Maranatha Christian and then a trip late in the year to take on their former coach Jon Goodman at Escondido Charter. Classical Academy will have a strong start to their season but will run into trouble in a very competitive Coastal League.
EXPECTED WIN/LOSS AND LEAGUE FINISH: (6-4), 5th in Coastal

TRI-CITY CHRISTIAN EAGLES
2018 RECORD: (9-3)
JV RECORD: (1-4-1)
2018 NOTABLE WINS: Francis Parker, La Jolla Country Day, Maranatha Christian
2018 NOTABLE LOSSES: Francis Parker, Orange Glen, Central
STARTING RATING: -18.1
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Josiah Sagale (OT-DT), Trey Blackford (WR-DB), Joseph Robledo (OT-DE), Braden Knight (WR-S), Jason Mageo (RB-LB), John Paul Sagale (RB-LB), Luis Martinez (TE-DE), Joseph Soliz (WR-S), Jacob Laga (OG-DT), Nathan Elguera (C).
RETURNING STARTERS: 8 on Offense, 8 on Defense
REPORT:  The Division V Semi-Finalists and Pacific League champs from a year ago are returning 16 of their 22 starters for 2019. Granted many of them are playing both ways but Tri-City should be poised for a good 2019 season despite being upgraded to the Coastal League. A big factor for last year's team will not be returning for the Eagles in 2019 as QB Kiah Reed trasnfered to El Camino along with Isaiah Tuipala. So with Reed and Tuipala now Wildcats at El Camino, the Eagles will have to replace some talent. That being said they are more than capable of putting together an undefeated non-league against O'Farrell Charter, Calipatria, La Jolla Country Day, Saddleback Valley, Escondido Charter and Army-Navy. Look for Tri-City to struggle in their first season in the Coastal League but still finish the season strong with a good record.
EXPECTED WIN/LOSS AND LEAGUE FINISH: (7-3), 4th in Coastal

ORANGE GLEN PATRIOTS
2018 RECORD: (10-4)
JV RECORD: (6-3)
2018 NOTABLE WINS: Locke, Francis Parker, Classical Academy
2018 NOTABLE LOSSES: Bishop's, San Pasqual, Santa Fe Christian
STARTING RATING: -8.2
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Cael Patterson (RB), Ethan Villalobos (QB), Julien Lesa (MLB), Dylan Ewing-Villalobos (FS), Rudy Baay (LG), D.J. Harris (WR), Jose Rivera (WR), Damien Gainey (DT), Mason Boulais (DE), Danny Luna (LT).
RETURNING STARTERS: 6 on Offense, 3 on Defense, also return their Top QB, RB, WR, OL, and Defensive Player
REPORT:  Head Coach Jason Patterson being excited for 2019 is an understatement. After being a State Championship finalist a year ago, Orange Glen is returning at least 9 out of their 22 starters from a season ago and in particular Coach Patterson's son Cael, who had a great 2018 season at running back. Cael Patterson, a 2,433 yard rusher a year ago, will be running behind a hefty OL this season with an average weight of 264 pounds across the front, the biggest weighing in at 285 pounds. The biggest tester for Orange Glen this season will be how they do against their rivals in the city of Escondido in Escondido High School and San Pasqual, especially when it comes to matching up in size and depth. A matchup in Week 4 against San Diego High will also be a game to circle on some calendars this season.
EXPECTED WIN/LOSS AND LEAGUE FINISH: (9-1), 1st in Coastal

SANTA FE CHRISTIAN EAGLES
2018 RECORD: (8-4)
JV RECORD: Not Reported
2018 NOTABLE WINS: Monte Vista, Olympian, La Jolla
2018 NOTABLE LOSSES: Central, Christian, St. Augustine
STARTING RATING: -2.3
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Sam Seymour (OL-DL), Kian Hogan (QB-S), Cade Ellis (LB-TE), Matt North (OL-DL), Gavin Guldseth (OL-DL), Stephen Britton (RB-LB), Jack Hartung (WR-OLB), Cristian Haymes (S-Wing), Blake Weeks (WING-OLB), Alex Pittman (TE-LB)
REPORT: Entering his 8th season as head coach, Jon Wallace has put some really good teams together that have gone on to go deep into the playoffs. This year should be no different with the talent that the Eagles have. Santa Fe Christian returns three lineman on a Wing-T offensive run team, which will prove to pay dividends especially for running back Stephen Britton. The rushing attack should be solid again for Santa Fe Christian, and they will need it as they take on the rest of the Coastal League as well as a really tough Week 1 opponent in Christian High School.
EXPECTED WIN/LOSS AND LEAGUE FINISH: (7-3), 2nd in Coastal
