A Great Evening at Point Loma NazareneMonday night I ventured out to Point Loma Nazarene in the running for the most beautiful campus and setting in the world overlooking the Pacific Ocean. On this night it was the West Regional final between St. Martin’s of Lacey, Washington and the home squad Sea Lions. It was a very physical and well officiated game. It came down to the wire with Point Loma Nazarene closing it out in the end 60-54 and advancing to the elite eight next Wednesday March 27th in Evansville, Indiana. Junior guard Daulton Hommes, tremendous talent for the Sea Lions, dropped in 25 points. Sixteen of them were in the second half some big shots were made in crunch time. It was worth making the effort to go to this game and I was very happy that I went.Tough loss for the FleetOn Sunday the San Diego Fleet lost a heartbreaker to the Birmingham Iron when former Chargers kicker Nick Novak drilled a 44 yard field goal as time expired to wrap up the win for Birmingham 32-29. I got to know Nick Novak when he played here in San Diego. He did the ceremonial first kick when I was the Vice President of Operations and General Manager for the San Diego Sockers. Most of the time the celebrities will do the kick and hang out and watch the game for a while -not Nick Novak! Nick wanted to know everything he could find out about the Sockers. He hung out in the Locker room with the team before the game and after celebrating the Sockers victory. After Nick left the Chargers and continued to kick in the NFL and now in the AAF, it brings back a nice memory of a quality man. I wish him the best on his journey to once again kick in the National Football League.Strike Force Back in Action Sunday at PechangaSan Diego Strike Force after having a bye this past weekend will be back in action this Sunday March 24th against the Green Bay Blizzard. The Strike Force are 0-3 and have been pretty good on offense. They really struggled on defense. Hopefully a nice crowd will come out Sunday and cheer on this expansion franchise. Game time is 5:05 At Pechanga.
