Cover Image

We are blessed with some of the greatest Mexican food around here in San Diego, so nevermind the fact that it’s National Burrito Day today (April 4th), we celebrate a great burrito whenever!

Here’s some of our favorite spots to grab a burrito in San Diego, in no particular order, but we certainly haven’t tried EVERY burrito in town, so tell us your faves that we need to try!

Lucha LibreMission Hills, North Park, Carlsbad (and Petco Park!)

Really, what more could you ask for? Brightly pink walls, donned with lucha libre wrestling memorabilia and there’s always a luchador movie playing. Oh, and did we mention the burritos are EPIC?! Pro tip: call ahead to reserve the champions booth if you’re going to dine-in.

The Surfin’ California Burrito. It’s what you should have in your hands right now instead of your phone. Just sayin... phones don’t taste as good. Trust us. #luchalibretacoshop #burritos #burrito #tacos #taco #sandiego #missionhills #northpark #carlsbad #surfincaliforniaburrito

Roberto’s Mexican FoodDel Mar, Encinitas, Leucadia, Solana Beach, Camp Pendleton, and more

Without a good tortilla, what even is a burrito? Roberto’s was founded in 1964 when Roberto and his wife decided at the urging of customers to make their own burritos from the tortillas produced at their tortilla factory. Their family still runs the restaurants, and they stick to the basics that they do well.

Lolita’s Mexican FoodChula Vista, Bonita, Kearny Mesa, Downtown, and Eastlake

A staple of Chula Vista since 1984, now with 6 locations and they make a mean California burrito, but we won’t fault you if you go for their carne asada fries.

@Surfline is claiming fair to good conditions with occasional head high sets... but there is always a Tsunami waiting for you here at Lolita's. Conditions: always epic! Tag your beach bros and gals -------- . . . #TsunamiBurrito #lolitasmexicanfood #surfsup #shaka #sdfoodie
