Friday, October 25th 97.3 The Fan will go on the road all afternoon for a special ONE TOWN ONE TEAM celebration of San Diego High School Football as we take The John Kentera Show and Gwynn & Chris on the road to Valley Center, California before the Escondido High School Cougars face the Valley Center High School Jaguars.   The Fan will showcase local football this week in a small community that embraces their team win or lose and comes out to support their local student-athletes.   This will be the first time The Fan has gone all-in for one football game as we shine the light on Valley Center High School and the community.  97.3 The Fan will also host two Bone Marrow Registry drives with BeTheMatch.com to support a local Valley Center High School Alumnus who was recently diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow match.

The John Kentera Show - Our day kicks off at Noon with the John Kentera Show as The Coach broadcasts from A1 Irrigation at 28511 Cole Grade Rd, Valley Center, CA 92082.  The coach will preview the Escondido vs Valley Center game during his sports talk show while he takes calls from around San Diego county.  BeTheMatch.com will be on hand at A1 Irrigation during the show signning folks up to join the national bone marrow registry.  A1 has an employee who is an alumnus of Valley Center High School who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and we are going to do our part to help find a match for them by teaming with A1 to raise awareness and sign people up for the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Gwynn & Chris - Gwynn  & Chris will broadcast their popular afternoon show live from the campus of Valley Center High School from 3 PM to 7 PM on Friday leading up to the game.  They will have on Coach Jud Bordman on from Escondido High School as well as Coach Ron Gilster of Valley Center High School to preview the game.  We will have a second bone marrow registration drive at the Valley Center High School football stadium during the show for fans to sign up for BeTheMatch.com

San Diego CIF High School Football - Escondido High School Cougars at Valley Center High School Jaguars Kick off 7:00 PM on 97.3 The Fan

Our broadcast day culminates with the kick-off of the game between Escondido High at Valley Center High at 7 PM.  Play by Play announcer Braden Surprenant and color analyst John Kentera will call the game that night between the Cougars and the Jaguars.  The game will be heard over the air on 97.3 The Fan and the RADIO.COM app across the country.

BeTheMatch.com - 97.3 The Fan is teaming up with The National Bone Marrow Registry to sign people to be the match for those battling Leukemia.  

Be the Match helps patients diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma. Patients no longer responding to treatment will need a stem cell transplant to save their life. There is a young man that is alumni of Valley Center High School and an employee of A1 that is in need of transplant and donor. Currently, his doctors are searching the Be the Match registry for an unrelated donor to save this young man’s life. You could be the one. Please sign up and have a swab kit mailed to you. Text the word FAN to 61474 and join the registry. A simple cheek swab can see if you are a match for this patient or any patient searching.

We will have swabbing events on Friday, October 25 at A1 Irrigation located at  28511 Cole Grade Rd, Valley Center, CA 92082 from Noon to 3 PM during the John Kentera Show.  A second swabbing event will be held before the Valley Center High School Football as the front gate of the football stadium from 3 PM to 7 PM during Gwynn & Chris.  You can join the registry and swab on the spot.

Patients searching Be the Match know it is like a needle in a haystack to find a perfect match. You could be the one. As long as you are between the ages of 18-44 years old, you can join the registry.
