Nets star Kyrie Irving has finally taken "responsibility" for promoting a movie that pushes anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, but apparently it wasn't enough for the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver.

Silver on Thursday released a statement slamming Irving for his failure to offer an "unqualified apology" and denounce the "harmful content" of the documentary, which Irving linked to in posts on Twitter and Instagram.

Silver also said he would be meeting with Irving within the week to discuss the matter.

The statement comes seven days after Irving's posts were published. Irving initially doubled down on the controversial posts during a contentious exchange with an ESPN reporter following the Nets' loss to the Indiana Pacers at Barclays Center.

The seven-time All-Star and former No. 1 overall draft pick defiantly declared that he would not "stand down on anything I believe in. I’m only going to get stronger because I’m not alone. I have a whole army around me.”

He later deleted the posts as the backlash intensified.

Meanwhile, the Nets and the NBA have been criticized for being slow to respond to Irving's disturbing posts. Last week, Nets owner Joe Tsai said the episode was "disappointing," but there seemed to be little momentum toward a suspension or even a fine.

On Wednesday night, the Nets, Irving and the Anti-Defamation League released a joint statement announcing $500,000 donations from both the Nets and Irving, as well as the Nets' continued participation in community events aimed at combatting discrimination and "false narratives."
