Draymond Green may not be much of a scorer, though he’s been an excellent distributor throughout his career, averaging over five assists per game. Outside of Nikola Jokic (who went nuclear against the Hornets Sunday night), you won’t find a better passing big man in the NBA, just not on this play.
Whoops. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. Green couldn’t have had a clearer path to the rim, benefiting from an impressive find by Jordan Poole (apparently not harboring any lingering animosity from their practice altercation earlier this year). But Green, instead of shooting, decided to make the extra pass, mistaking Raptors coach Nick Nurse for an invisible teammate, perhaps the ghost of Steph Curry, who hasn’t suited up since injuring his shoulder last week.

The blunder quickly went viral, with Twitter enjoying a hearty laugh at Draymond’s expense. It’s a shame too, because, if not for his inexplicable lapse in judgment, we might be talking about this as Green’s best performance of the season, netting 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Luckily, Green’s gaffe didn’t prove costly as the Warriors won with relative ease, snapping a three-game losing skid with a 126-110 triumph over the Raptors. Anchored by Poole’s career-high 43 points, Sunday marked a rare road victory for the defending champs, who have won just three of their 17 games away from Chase Center this season (league-worst .176 road winning percentage).
