The Las Vegas Raiders hoped to chart a new course after hiring former longtime Patriots assistant Josh McDaniels as head coach last offseason, but instead it's been more of the same.

The Raiders fell to a disappointing 2-5 with Sunday's loss, a shutout defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints -- and former Raiders head coach Dennis Allen.
After the game, McDaniels apologized to "Raider Nation" for the no-show in Nawlins.
He also reportedly met with owner Mark Davis, prompting speculation that perhaps McDaniels' seat is already getting warm.
McDaniels, 46, is now getting his second chance as a head coach, after an ill-fated two-year stint with the Broncos from 2009-10.
He returned to the Patriots as an assistant for a decade before once again departing, this time for Las Vegas, fueling hope that he was older and wiser for his new opportunity. The Raiders' offseason additions of superstar wide receiver Davante Adams and former Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones sparked further optimism.
But, just seven games into McDaniels' tenure with the Raiders, things are looking bleak.
The team has lost several heartbreakers in the early going, including a Week 2 setback against the Cardinals on a game-ending fumble return for a touchdown, and a one-point defeat at the hands of the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 5 that was marred by Adams shoving a photographer on his way into the locker room.
Then came the dud against the Saints, coming off a dismantling of the Texans in Week 7.
For some Raiders fans on social media who have suffered through mediocrity for the better of two decades, they've already seen of McDaniels:
