TJ Olsen, the 8-year-old son of former NFL tight end Greg Olsen, is in good spirits after undergoing heart transplant surgery this weekend.

In a video posted to Greg Olsen’s Twitter account Monday morning, TJ gave the public an update and a thank you from his hospital bed.

“Hi everybody, thank you for thinking of me,” he said. “Thank you for praying with me. Congrats, all of you have gotten a win. We love you guys.”

TJ was born with a heart condition and underwent three open-heart surgeries prior to his third birthday.

A few weeks ago, Greg updated that his son’s heart was failing and that it was likely he needed a heart transplant.

The news that TJ would receive a new heart came last week and his son underwent surgery on Friday at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The former NFL tight end added he does not know who the heart donor family is, but thanked them in a tweet.
