
In a battle for first place in the Mountain West Conference standings, the San Diego State Aztecs cruised past the Boise State Broncos 72-52 on Friday evening at Viejas Arena.
With the victory, the Aztecs improved to 9-2 in conference play and took sole possession of first place. Boise State dropped to 8-3 and into second place.
Nathan Mensah scored a game-high 17 points for San Diego State, in a game that saw 10 different Aztecs score points. The Aztecs shot 51% from the floor and opened up a 25-point lead at one point in the second half.
San Diego State's defense held the Broncos to 37% shooting, as Boise State went just 2-for-18 (11%) from the three-point range. San Diego State's bench also outscored the Broncos, 31-16.
The Aztecs continue Mountain West Conference play at Utah State on Wednesday. Opening tip is at 7 p.m.
