San Diego FC advanced to the Round of 16 in the Concacaf Champions Cup thanks to an aggregate goal count of 4-2 in two matches against Pumas UNAM. After defeating Pumas 4-1 last week, SDFC could advance in the tournament with any outcome besides a 3 goal loss on Tuesday night, prompting them to play conservatively, with strong defense and a focus on goal prevention. SDFC lost 1-0 in Mexico City, but that was all they needed to advance to face Toluca FC in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, March 11th at Snapdragon Stadium, before playing Toluca in the second leg at Estadio Nemesio Diez a week later on the 18th. Times for each match will be announced at a later date.
