The Padres lost to the Dodgers 4-2 on Friday night, despite getting another quality start from their starting pitcher. Blake Snell allowed just 2 runs over 6 innings on a 2-run double by Freddie Freeman in the 3rd inning. The Padres struggles hitting with runners in scoring position continued, as the team went just 1-7. Ha-Seong Kim briefly tied the game in the top of the 7th inning with a 2-run double where pinch runner Rougned Odor scored from first base in an extremely close play at the plate. But the lead would be short-lived, as Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman hit back-to-back home runs off of Tim Hill in the bottom half of the frame to take the lead back. The Padres had a great opportunity to tie the game or take the lead in the 8th inning, when Nelson Cruz led off with a single, and then advanced to third on a single by Fernando Tatis Jr., giving the Padres runners at the corners with no outs. But Jake Cronenworth struck out and Manny Machado grounded into a double play to end the threat. Joe Musgrove will square off against Julio Urias in game 2 on Saturday.
