The Padres evened their series against the Mets with a 3-1 win on Saturday night, thanks in large part to another dominant effort from Blake Snell. Snell allowed just one hit and struck out 11 over six scoreless innings, earning his 7th quality start in his last 8 outings. Brandon Dixon put the Padres on the board in the 1st inning with a run scoring fielder's choice, and Matthew Batten hit his first career home run, a 2-run shot in the 2nd inning to give the Padres a 3-run cushion. Francisco Alvarez hit a solo blast in the 7th inning, but that would be all the offense the Mets could muster, as Josh Hader picked up his 21st save of the season. The Padres and Mets will close out the first half on Sunday with a pitching matchup of Max Scherzer facing Joe Musgrove.
