The Padres got a big road win over the Rays on Sunday to win the series two games to one. Jackson Merrill blasted his 21st homer of the year, a 2-run shot in the 4th inning. Jurickson Profar added an RBI-sac fly to put the Padres up 3-0 through 4. Dylan Cease cruised through five scoreless frames, before running into trouble in the 6th inning. Cease issued back to back walks to begin the inning, followed by a single by Brandon Lowe to load the bases with no outs, which would end Cease's day. Jason Adam entered the game in relief, and hit Junior Caminero with a pitch to bring in a run. He then got Josh Lowe to ground into a double play, bringing in Tampa's second run. Brandon Lowe would score from third base on a wild pitch to tie the game. In the top of the 9th inning, Jake Cronenworth drew a leadoff walk, and went from first to third on a single from Manny Machado. Tyler Wade would pinch run for Cronenworth, and come home to score what would end up being the game winning run on a sac-fly from Xander Bogaerts. Robert Suarez entered the game and locked down the bottom of the 9th to earn his 30th save of the season. The Padres will return to San Diego to play the Tigers beginning on Monday.
