The Padres dropped Thursday's rubber match against Minnesota, losing 5-3 despite getting a quality start from Yu Darvish, who struck out 7 and allowed just 2 runs in 6 innings pitched. Fernando Tatis Jr. sent the first pitch of the game over the left field wall, putting the Padres up 1-0. Joey Gallo's bases loaded walk tied the game at 1 in the 2nd inning. Juan Soto's torrid pace continued, as he smoked an RBI-double in the 4th to bring in Manny Machado. Kyle Farmer tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom half of the frame. In the next half inning, Rougned Odor blasted his first home run as a Padre to put them up 3-2, but Brent Honeywell gave up 3 earned runs while recording just 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, which would be the decisive runs in the game.
