The Padres suffered another disappointing loss on Friday night, this time by the score of 2-1 to the Cubs. Coming off being named the National League's Pitcher of the Month for May, Michael Wacha couldn't make it out of the 5th inning, as he struggled with his control, allowing 2 runs by walking 5 batters and allowing 3 hits. The Padres offense mustered just 4 hits, and wasted a great opportunity to tie the game or take the lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. Trailing by a score of 2-1, Rougned Odor led off the inning with a single to center field that was misplayed by center fielder Mike Tauchman. Odor appeared to get hurt while running to first base, but was able to hobble to second base, before exiting for a pinch runner. Trent Grisham then drew a walk, giving the Padres runners at first and second base and no outs while trailing by a run, with Xander Bogaerts coming to bat. But Bogaerts would ground into a double play, followed by Fernando Tatis striking out to end the threat. Cubs closer Mark Leiter struck out the side in the 9th, as the Padres fell to 26-31 on the season.

After the game, Bob Melvin said that Rougned Odor strained his left groin. He added that Odor thought it was going to pop, which is why he slowed down. Melvin wasn't sure what the timetable would be for him to return.
