One day after scoring 10 runs on 14 hits, the Padres were shutout on just 5 hits. Rich Hill had another rough outing, as he labored through 3.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits. Hill told the media after the game "when you suck, you suck." His counterpart Zac Gallen is one of the best starters in baseball, and was able to hold the Padres' offense in check to the tune of 6 shutout innings and 8 strikeouts. Pedro Avila was the the lone bright spot for the Padres, hurling 4.2 scoreless innings and lowering his ERA to 0.98. The Padres will have an opportunity to win the series on Sunday with Seth Lugo on the mound.
