The Padres got dominant pitching and slugging from their offense in Tuesay's 7-0 win over the Brewers. Randy Vasquez was brilliant, allowing just one hit and two walks over 7 shutout innings. The offense slugged their way through the Brewers, hitting three long balls overall, including Ryan O'Hearn's first inning grand slam that set the tone for the evening. Luis Arraez added a two-run shot that hit off the right field foul pole in the second inning, and Jose Iglesias went deep in the eighth, his second home run in as many games, as the Padres were able to give their high-leverage relievers the night off. With the Cubs and Dodgers both losing, the Padres now trail both teams by a game and a half, giving the Friars a real shot at hosting a Wild Card Series next week if things break right over the remaining four games of the season.
