Things were not going well for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first half of their divisional round matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.
So much so, that Tom Brady did something he’s never done in his career:
He was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
After dropping back and throwing a pass in the second quarter, Brady took a hit from Rams pass rusher Von Miller rather high (and arguably late), and it appeared as if Miller’s helmet may have came in under neat Brady’s face mask.
Brady had a bloodied lip as the result of the hit and was looking for a flag but did not get one.
He turned to official Shawn Hochuli and pointed to his lip and became very animated, getting in the ref’s face, before the 15-yard penalty was given to him.
The penalty also came after there was some talk earlier this week that Brady was given favorable treatment by officials.
But with the Bucs trailing 17-3 at the time, frustrations seemed to boil over too much for Brady, and he cost his team some yardage.
Brady's future is also uncertain, and if Tampa cannot come back, it may indeed by Brady's final career game.
