As you may have noticed, we don’t post much golf content here at RDC Sports. But when a barefoot John Daly sinks a hole-in-one, you better believe we’re writing about it. This gem, courtesy of golf pro Joshua Price, comes from this week’s Bone Frog Open, a charity pro-am.
Daly sunk this one from 163 yards out on the Par-3 11th at the Federal Golf Club in Glen Allen, a suburb of nearby Richmond, Virginia. The eccentric Daly, known for his flamboyant outfits and occasionally reckless behavior (though he’s toned it down some in recent years), didn’t need the luxury of footwear to score what he claimed was the 11th hole-in-one of his career. The 54-year-old recently underwent surgery for bladder cancer, though he seemed to be in good spirits here.
Daly’s ace was for a good cause with proceeds from the Bone Frog Open going to the families of fallen Navy seals. A University of Arkansas alum, Daly has been a tour fixture for the better part of three decades, rising to fame with his stunning win at the 1991 PGA Championship. He added a second major to his tally at the 1995 British Open, an event that produced one of the great photos in golf history.
