DO'S
*Be yourself
*Talk about the couple. Use your personal experiences but avoid too many "you had to be there" moments.
*Start with a bang. Use a catchy opener or joke.
*Say it in 5 minutes. Short & sweet is best.
*Always toast the couple at the end of the speech.

DON'TS
*DON'T bring up one of the couple's ex's
*DON'T make a joke about the couple having sex that night
*DON'T talk about how many people the bride or groom dated or slept with
*DON'T reference an inside joke that only the couple or members of the bridal party will understand
*DON'T curse or be crass, even if you are known for it
*DON'T memorize it. It's ok to write it down on index cards or make notes.
*DON'T wing it. Always have some idea where you're going.
*DON'T get drunk. 1 drink is fine to relax.
