Today, May 7, is #570Day

Today is #570Day in NEPA so we're asking...what is your favorite thing about NEPA?

Is it a favorite place to hike? The many lakes & streams? Old Forge pizza? The Railriders or Penguins?

When you're on social media today, make sure you post a pic or video of what you love about the 5-7-0. Let's celebrate NEPA together!

#570Day is a new online initiative thanks to the efforts of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, The Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visit Luzerne County.

Heritage Valley Trail

The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail is one of my fave places in the 570! 70 miles of biking & hiking trails on an old railroad bed. Can't be beat!

Here's a few more faves from a few of my friends...

Lissa: Pierogies. Sherman Theater. Kirby Center. Church bazaars. Lake Scranton.

Torri Thomas (98.5 KRZ Promotions Director): How the people here help one another. Saw that totally on display after my accident.

Ashley Wolo (Executive Director Griffin Pond Animal Shelter): Food & nature. I don't have a favorite place to eat because there are so many amazing restaurants all over the 570 & I'm constantly going back-and-forth between dozens of restaurants. The scenery in NEPA is beyond beautiful. Experiencing the 4 seasons is always breathtaking and exciting. The best part is that there's always something to do...vendor shows, wine fests, car shows, parades, expo's. I love it all and I love the 570!

Brian Coe (Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins): Besides the Penguins you mean? How about getting out on my bike to enjoy a nice ride on the Wyoming Dike and through Kirby Park? I love the ability to bike to work. And after the exercise, how about enjoying a local brew from SBC or Breaker Brewing? Plus, there are so many great little locally owned restaurants. My 2 favorites are Gober's Deco Lounge in Exeter and the 16th Ward in Scranton.

Kylie B (98.5 KRZ Traffic Reporter): The festivals and Fire Department carnivals. Growing up in NJ we had our share of them but here in PA, they are so diverse with their foods...Greek, Italian, Polish, Amish...it's like an international buffet.

Amber Loomis (Osterhout Free Library): All the hiking and scenic overlooks like Campbell's Ledge.

And some more from KRZ listeners...

Peyton: The Pizza and some of the unique small businesses.

Michelle: People always come together to help whenever needed.

Jessica: The food. It's awesome that the area is growing in diversity. We have had a niche of Italian and pizza but I'm excited for the new Latino and Caribbean cultures coming into Wilkes-Barre. If we could get a traditional dim sum place that'd be clutch.

Amber: The fact that you can take a short drive & look like you're in a different state but still in PA.

Marybeth: That the country is a few minutes away. Lots of mountains. Fresh air. Beautiful scenery. Apples from Braces. And 98.5 KRZ. I'm from NYC and this is heaven to me!

Kristin: The food & Sheetz. Rolling hills. Creeks. Grass. Farms. Dairies. Mannings. Church picnics. Fairs. Country drives. Parades for literally everything. Ubaldo. Football & pizza Fridays.

Tom: Eclectic variety of homemade food...Italian, Polish, German, Greek, etc.

Brandon: NEPA is full of small towns & every small town has their own volunteer fire department. Your community members are volunteer firefighters. To me, that says enough about the 570.
