The announcement of 21’s involvement comes on the heels of a new trailer for the Chris Rock produced film, which features snippets of the rapper’s new single fittingly dubbed, “Spiral.”
Spiral: From the Book of Saw makes for the horror franchises ninth installment and tells the story of Banks and Co. attempting to ward off an evil imposter who is replicating the dark murderous ways of the original Jigsaw.
Echoing throughout the new trailer, the tracks helps set the films dark tone, perfectly pairing the rapper’s menacing cadence with shots of detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks, played by Rock, and his police veteran father, played by Samuel L. Jackson, dealing with the sadistic Jigsaw imposter.
Often gravitating towards horror movie aesthetics when it comes to his own music creative and cover art, 21 even drafted Morgan Freeman to narrate parts of his last album, “Savage Mode 2.”
If the little we’ve heard from the latest collaboration with the film franchise is any indication of what’s to come, then the pairing of Savage ominous beats and nerve-jolting “Saw"-ness truly is a match made in h-e double hockey sticks.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw is set to premiere theatrically on May 14, 2021, check out the new trailer below.
