As shared in a press release along with the trailer, RM’s documentary will focus on the eight months in which he wrote and recorded his sophomore solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, released on May 24, 2024, while also “reflecting both the continuous challenges of the person he is off the stage (Kim Namjoon) and his genuine commitment to and love for his art.”
The trailer, released November 5, follows the BTS member as he performs in studio sessions, takes to massive global stages, and during well-earned downtime with his friends, all the while wondering what his place is in the industry. As seen in the clip below, RM asks, “What does it mean to be a K-pop star at 30?”
Reminiscing about his time with BTS, RM explains that the group thrived because what they were doing was so unprecedented, noting that “not being defined as anything also means you can become anything.”
That being said, he’s now trying to apply that same standard to himself, outside of the genre-defying chart-topping group. “I always pushed my limits,” he explains over footage of himself working in the studio. “I’d try to see to what extent I could be truly honest with myself as RM, or as Kim Namjoon.”
RM: Right People, Wrong Place is set to hit theaters on December 5. Ticket sales begin today (November 6), with a secondary global sale set to start on November 20. Check out the trailer and official poster below.
