It seems that a lot of folks around the country didn’t get the memo that looking at the eclipse without the proper precautions is a very bad idea.
Following the total solar eclipse that swept across the nation yesterday, there was a spike in several searches on Google.
Some of the popular phrases people searched yesterday included “Can you take a picture of the eclipse.” But the one that dominated the search engine across the board was simply “my eyes hurt.”
According to 9To5Google, searches for “my eyes hurt” peaked between 2:30-3pm ET in the US, right as the solar eclipse passed over large portions of the country.
Texans have something to be proud of, though. We actually listened to people who said to wear eclipse glasses!
The top five states who searched “my eyes hurt” the most include New Hampshire, West Virginia, Arkansas, Indiana, and Rhode Island.
