While best known for her work on Three’s Company and Step by Step, the late Suzanne Somers was a savvy businesswoman who began selling the fitness equipment the ThighMaster in the ‘90s.
And with Somers as the face of the brand, the ThighMaster kept selling, and selling, and selling.
In fact, from sales from the ThighMaster alone, Sommers earned an estimated $300 million over the years!
Somers revealed the figures last year during an interview on the Hollywood Raw podcast, estimated that 15 million ThighMasters have sold at a retail price of $19.95, amounting to $299.5 million.
And that’s not factoring in the number of “ThighMaster Gold” units sold, which retail for $49.99, and a “Toning System” package that goes for $74.99, so that that total figure NOW could well exceed $300 million.
Somers also revealed on the podcast that she and her husband Alan Hamel owned “100%” of ThighMaster after their business partners “got drunk on money when it all started selling. They overspent to the point where they could no longer afford to be in their side of the business. We bought them out. We have 100 percent."
Somers passed away the day before her birthday, Sunday October 15 after a long battle with breast cancer.
