Stealer, stealer, pumpkin stealer.
A homeowner’s doorbell camera caught a woman red-handed in her Halloween mischief.
In the footage, shared on Facebook by The West Richland Police Department, the suspect can be seen stealing a pumpkin from the front porch in the middle of the night.
The doorbell camera caught the woman creeping up to the house and grabbing hold of the innocent gourd.
Authorities noted that this wasn’t the woman’s first offense as she was also spotted stealing pumpkins from neighboring homes.
In the Facebook post, police dubbed the woman the “pumpkin thief” and asked for the public’s help in identifying her.
“On today’s date (October 26), a smaller dark-colored sedan parked in front of a residence in West Richland. A female passenger is seen getting out of the car, run up to the porch of the residence, takes a pumpkin, then runs back into the car. The owner of the house observed the same car go up to the neighbors home and take some of their pumpkins too,” the post read.
The owner of the house was “able to follow” the vehicle for a bit and witnessed the wicked crime play out in real-time.
"The occupants of the vehicle began to throw the pumpkins out the window as they drove with lights off and recklessly,” the post added.
The vehicle is described to be a “a smaller, possibly GEO Metro style, vehicle and black in color."
“The great pumpkin caper,” one user noted in the comments.
Another had the perfect punishment lined up: “She has to make pies for each pumpkin she stole and give them to the people she stole from.”
However, some people didn’t think the crime was all that bad, with one user questioning: “who hasn't smashed some pumpkins growing up.”
