Demi Lovato reveals in a new interview on Ashley Graham's podcast that she now realizes she was fooling herself when she believed she was over her eating-disorder issues. "I thought the past few years was recovering from an eating disorder when it actually was just completely falling into it," the 27-year-old singer-actress explains. "Maybe my symptoms weren't as obvious as before, but it was definitely an eating issue." She adds that not being honest about those problems was a factor in her near-fatal drug overdose in 2019. "I honestly think that's what led to everything happening over the past year: Me thinking I found recovery when I didn't and then living this lie and trying to tell the world I was happy with myself when I really wasn't," she says. "I'm tired of running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting." Graham shared a clip of Lovato's podcast appearance Tuesday on Instagram, writing in a caption, "I am so proud to call Demi Lovato a friend and I’m in awe of her strength and openness...Thank you Demi for coming on and showing your fans that while pain and recovery aren’t simple, healing and strength are still possible."
