LISTEN NOW: Lewis Capaldi speaks out surrounding new documentary
The film details the 26-year-old’s journey from ambitious teen to GRAMMY-nominated Pop star, and while certain parts of the documentary display Capaldi’s well-known sense of humor, other parts show the darker sides to his life.
“It was a good documentary, but sad, sad at points,” Capaldi told Audacy’s Mike Adam. “When I first watched it, I was surprised that I didn’t die at the end — that’s the kind of vibe I got from it, but I’m glad it’s out. People seem to like it, which is good. It had like one or two bad reviews and those people — f*** ‘em!”
While some may not have received the bright, laughter-filled moments they expected from a documentary surrounding Capaldi’s journey, the Scottish musician says he’s relieved to have more sides of himself revealed.
“I can be a vegetable now and people will go, ‘That’s Lewis,’” he shared. “Before, I had to be happy all the time… Now, if I’m sad, people are like, ‘well, we’ve seen him be sad before, so maybe that’s my new sort of persona.' [A] dark, bruiting, intense sort of fella.”
