Setting a Holiday Gift Giving Budget and then Going Over It Without Telling the Person You're Exchanging Gifts With

"HEYYYYY GUUUUYYYSSSS! (Sorry, I had to) Anyway, I've got a savage or sensible topic for you. This year my fiance and I have been trying to be smarter with our money, so we set a holiday gift giving budget. I have already managed to go over that budget and there's still more things I want to get him! My question is, would it be savage of me to not tell him that I'm going over the budget? I feel like if I do then he'll feel like he should too and then we won't be getting married or buying a house until 2025. Curious to hear the responses!
