Taylor Swift and Matty Healy of The 1975 have broken things off and are no longer an item, that is if they ever were an item in the first place.

Dating rumors first began to swirl when the 34-year old singer was spotted at all three of Taylor’s Eras concerts in Nashville. The supportive boy presence most fans were expecting was her ex- Joe Awlyn, as their shock breakup was still considered news to many. But when Healy again appeared at her concert in Philly, alongside Swift’s father, the two were undeniably tied together somehow. Swift and Healy were often spotted out in public together, with everything from double dates and studio sessions to sneaking into Taylor’s place late at night. Even though a romantic relationship was never confirmed nor denied, TMZ has reported that both musicians are now single.
While it’s been argued that the couple was an odd pairing to begin with, Swift and Healy have actually been friends since 2014. They exchanged numbers, and according to Healy, began connecting, “in the same way that a lot of people in this kind of [music industry] world do.” This friendship eventually led to musical collaborations this past year. Matty Healy told Audacy back in November that they had worked on each other’s albums. Swift was one of the first to hear the 1975’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language, and the two collaborated for an initial version of Taylor’s Midnights. “We actually worked a bit on that,” Healy recalled, “But then the version of it never came out. It was for reasons not to be criticized. She’s amazing.”
Whatever that friendship may or may not have led to is undecided. But whatever it was, it’s over now. In fact, an ET insider voiced that, “Taylor's friends want what's best for her and aren't shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship." Any leftover emotions from her six year relationship, combined with both being touring musicians, could have easily led to a breakup. Ultimately, the source claimed that they, “realized they're not really compatible with each other.”
It seems Taylor will be focused on her Eras tour and Matty on his The 1975 Being Funny in a Foreign Language tour, both which are currently running. While no one has yet to make a clear statement, it appears the whirlwind romance that may have never happened has (un)officially deflated.
