Celine Dion appears ready to make her comeback to the stage and rumor has it the epic return is set to take place during Friday’s opening ceremonies for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Dion took an unexpected break from the stage in December 2022 after being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome — a rare, progressive neurological disorder that causes muscle rigidity, spasms, mobility issues, and shortness of breath. Despite having to cancel her 2022 tour, the five-time GRAMMY winner has been on a quest to regain control of her voice and take the stage to perform again.

According to Variety, the 56-year-old was spotted in Paris Monday at the Royal Monceau hotel near the Champs-Élysées, a location other rumored performers for Friday’s opening ceremonies are staying, including Lady Gaga.

While representatives for Dion did not respond to requests for comment, Dion seemingly dropped a big hint during an interview last April when she told Vogue France, "I've chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!"

Should she perform, it would mark her second Olympic performance as she also kicked off the 1996 Games in Atlanta with a moving performance of “The Power of the Dream.”

The Paris opening ceremonies, which will take place in parade form for the first time ever, are scheduled to take place Friday, July 26 on NBC.
