As Post Malone readies to share his debut Country album with the world this Friday (8/16), he’s also ready to reveal a more vulnerable side to himself with one track in particular, “Yours.”

The song sits at the very end of the 18-song tracklist and is one of only three solo songs by Post on the project. The other 15 are collaborations with some of the genre’s most well-known stars including Dolly Parton, Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton and more.
During a recent interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Post opened up about the soul-bearing track, “Yours,” which describes his daughter’s future wedding day. The lyrics leave no question of just how much the 29-year-old’s daughter inspires him.
“It changes your life in the best way ever,” he said of welcoming a child into the world. “I’ll never forget her. If you’ve heard her cry, you’ll never forget her, either.”
“Yours” isn’t the only song Post has written about his daughter as he states he’s “written a whole lot of songs” about his only child, but this one is sure to hit different as Post digs deep into the emotion and storytelling of Country music.
During the interview he also opened up about his current partner and how his love for her has put him in a positive mental place after struggling for some time. He admits he’d been on a “rough path” previously, and now feels that’s all changed after meeting his child’s mother, who he refers to as the “number one mom in the f***ing universe.”
“I don’t feel like that anymore and that’s the most amazing thing,” he said, referring to the immense loneliness he used to fill with excessive amounts of unhealthy habits like smoking and drinking. The musician has since cut down on those activities in order to make sure he is around and present for his daughter.
Fans can hear “Yours,” along with the 17 other tracks that make up his debut Country album, F-1 Trillion, this Friday, August 16.
